#5:   Medical Receptionist

 

Needs to articulate well and have tactfulness on the telephone in dealing with patients and skill to guide the interview plus common sense in taking messages and scheduling appointments.  Pre-confirmation of insurance eligibility, collection of deductable/share-of-cost/co-pay/etc at window and documentation thereof, pre-authorizations via insurance, patient telephone follow-up and tracking patients to include accounts, and confirming and changing appointments.  Completing an array of  various paperwork/forms, preparing charts for next day appointments being sure all reports are in-house before follow-up,  and then ready charts correctly for provider.  Filing, routing labs/special studies/referrals/RX refill requests to appropriate provider.  Medical records maintenance and outside requests.  Prefer completion Front Office Medical Assistant course or experience, but others may apply.  Must be able to multitask and work quickly and accurately and be able to cover reception when needed.
