#4:   Physician Assistant-Certified:

 

Must be NCCPA - National Board Certified, have California Physician Assistant license and in good standing, have at least 12 months experience which may include PA rotations or internship or residency, have unlimited DEA and meet ongoing CMEs as required by NCCPA. 

 

Essential Functions:  General Practice

 

General Medical diagnosis and treatment:

 

The scope of practice for the Physician Assistant is anything that he/she is comfortable doing and the Supervising Physician allows.

 

Performing physical examinations including DMV, well child, school physicals, well women and other annual examinations.

Diagnosing and treating common, acute illnesses, infectious diseases, minor trauma, and chronic conditions or diseases.

Taking patient histories.

Interpreting and evaluating patient data.

Ordering or performing diagnostic and/or therapeutic procedures which include biopsy, minor surgery and wound care.

Prescribing, administering, dispensing prescription and nonprescription medications and medical devices.

Providing contraceptive services, pap smears, annual examinations.

Educating patients on health promotion, disease prevention, current treatments, importance of patient compliance, and answering patient questions.

Making patient referrals to other providers or to PT, OT, nutritionist, Orthopedics, mental health,  etc.

Creating, maintaining patient record and documenting treatment plans.

Consulting with other physicians and/or health care professionals to confirm difficult diagnosis and facilitate appropriate treatment plan.

Keeping informed about the newest developments in medicine by attending educational conferences, CME lectures, literature reviews, and by consulting with other medical personnel.

Assisting in directing/mentoring all other staff members other than the Director.

Hospital and Nursing Home and on-call medicine only if elected.

As per Magalia-Pines Family Practice Medical Clinic Office Policies and Procedure Manual and supervises all other medical staff to include RN/LVN/CMA and others.
